Dr. Sunitha Mahesh is highly motivated and focused on Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Infertility with a special interest in managing high-risk pregnancies Conceived through Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and management of Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL). As a practicing Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, has also developed skills in performing fetal scans with a keen interest in interventional procedures.
She is an able and gentle teacher with experience of working in medical college, presently providing training to the fellowship doctors posted to Maternal Fetal Medicine department.
Has keen interest in participating in opinion-making media interactions on Social and Medico-Legal issues of present-day society.
Has been an active member of the RIF and RPL specialty clinic since 2016 and has been able to guide and manage patients with adverse obstetric outcomes.

What is IVF?
10-15% of Indian couples face infertility due to various reasons. In-Vitro Fertilisation or popularly known as IVF treatment can help them conceive a child and bring their dreams to life.
It is the most common Artificial Reproductive Technology (ART) procedure performed worldwide. With over 2.5 million cycles performed every year and 8 million+ IVF babies around the world. With advancements in reproductive technology, IVF has become a widely accessible treatment, offering hope and a chance to start a family, especially when other options fail.
What is the process involved in IVF treatment?
The IVF process starts by stimulating the ovaries with hormones so they produce multiple eggs. In the next step, the eggs and sperm are retrieved, cleaned, and examined. The most viable eggs are then fertilised with the sperm in a laboratory dish.
When the eggs successfully transform into embryos, one or more of these embryos are transferred into the woman’s uterus to induce pregnancy. A pregnancy test is advised two weeks after the embryo transfer to determine the success of the procedure.
